The Indian government has said it will roll out 5G services in four cities next year (5G services to launch in India in 2022). The Indian Telecommunications Ministry (DoT) said in a statement on Monday. The fifth generation of 5G wireless technology will be launched in four cities. It will be available in more cities by 2023.

Auctions on the 5G band are also scheduled to take place before the launch. But no date has been set yet. Last September, DoT received a bid from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRAI). A statement from DoT said: “Frequency sharing for TSP (Telecom Service Providers) should begin as soon as possible.”

Bharti Airtel, TSP; Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea Bangalore Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh Delhi, Ammadab Chan Naing Hyderabad, 5G network tests are underway in Gandinaga. These cities will be the first cities to receive 5G rollout services next year, the statement said.

As for frequency bands. The Government of India recognizes 526-698 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz. However, the India Government recognizes 3300-3670 MHz, 24.25-28.5 GHz, 2500 MHz for private and public 5G networks (5G services to launch in India in 2022).
